Testimonials About Our Special Education School in Toledo, OH

Making a Difference in Our Community

Read testimonials from parents of current students in our special education school in Toledo, OH. We are proud of our reputation, and we are dedicated to serving our community.

Holistic education is a key component of why we are so successful.

Holistic education is a unique perspective on introducing children to the different aspects of their world. From communication to social situations and nurturing emotional intelligence, approaching every child as an individual is a critical aspect of their schooling. Creative initiatives and addressing their potential allows them to explore the world at their own pace and absorb information in a way they feel most comfortable.

Holistic education never applies pressure or attempts to fit all children into one mold. It is vital to their schooling that they feel they’re succeeding. In addition, we encourage experiences and challenges that foster growth.

Teaching personal and social responsibility is one of the tenets of holistic education. It helps develop a student's awareness of the importance of community connections while exploring their self-worth. As they grow, children learn to see the value in social connections, and it creates friendships that will last a lifetime.

With holistic education, we focus on the individual child, which allows them to learn methods that help them feel more comfortable. We believe every one of our students is unique and deserves a chance to experience the joy of learning.

"I love how all the teachers work at the student's individual academic levels and with each student's personal needs"

Dear JoAnna and members of GOAL,

We wanted to take a minute to tell all of you how much we appreciate your services to our boys, Alex and Nick. They have only been at GOAL since the summer of 2019, and we have seen exciting changes in them already.

As you know, Nick came to you from high school and at best was echolalic, usually choosing not to say words. Throughout all of his years in school, others has tried, but were never successful in helping him to use language functionally. Since attending GOAL, we notice that he is saying a few more words and repeating more of what he hears. Alex came from another adult day program, which was not as supportive. He did not seem to like it at all, and preferred to stay alone in a room with his coat and bookbag with him at all times. This discovery prompted his move to your program. He is now using some language in a goal-directed mannner, which is extremely encouraging. He is participating in group activities, and saying and doing things that we have not seen before.

We believe that these changes are directly attributable to the attention they receive at GOAL. It is refreshing to see positive attitudes and ideas custom-designed for our sons, and not a "cookie-cutter" approach. We have noticed that our sons seem very happy to go to GOAL in the morning, and this positive mood follows them home at the end of the day. We are so grateful for all that you do at GOAL. Hopefully, the boys continue to blossom in your care and will be happy there for years to come. Keep doing things the way you're doing them. You're obviously doing them right.

Most appreciatively,

Fred and Vicki Williams

"I wanted you to know I am so completely happy with the decision to have Jeremy with you. You are amazing and you are doing a phenomenal job with my bear. Thank you for striving to make GOAL. If it wasn't for you my Jer would be lost and stagnant, instead he is flourishing, growing and is really happy . Thank you, Barb, it's how my whole family feels and I am just stating facts. I want to let you know how much your drive and hard work means to us."
